I hope you've had a refreshing festive period and are looking forward to starting back at work this coming week...
No...?
I'm detecting a distinct lack of enthusiasm here, people. It can't be all that bad, can-
Right, I'll shut up. Sorry.
I guess you've all been wondering where I've been for the past few weeks. Or possibly you haven't missed me at all. Whatever the case, I thought I'd offer a little explanation for my absence from the blogosphere since I completed NaNoWriMo.
You may recall that I decided that I had to re-engage with the real world after spending every spare moment in November living in my head. Due to the fact that Christmas was hot on my heels by then it turns out that the world rather forcefully re-engaged with me and I had to let something slide to appease the gods (or really-wife, as she's otherwise known).
Now, you may think that I'll be back in the rhythm, writing my blog for you like a good little boy, once a week, but I'm afraid that's not going to be the case. You see, the main reason I started writing this blog was to get me in the habit of writing on a regular basis, to get the juices flowing, so that I could start to follow my passion of writing stories, and possibly knock out a novel or two. Attempting NaNoWriMo was the beginning of that, to see if I had the drive to push myself.
It turns out that I do.
Honestly, it seems like a good idea now... |
That isn't to say that the blog is going to disappear or fade into oblivion - Jamie's Brain never truly shuts off, believe me - but it definitely won't be once a week like it was. Alfie Bird takes precedence for the time being, but check back in from time to time and I may have another rant or two to colour your days. As ever, I will shout about a new post on Twitter and others may share it on Facebook.
Wish me luck!
